On November 29, 2022, Theodore Barksdale, 34, was found shot in an alley off the 100 block of North Kossuth Street in Southwest Baltimore. Medics took him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Baltimore Police homicide detectives reviewed video and interviewed witnesses, identifying a suspect and obtaining an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Dominique Edmonds. On December 9, 2022, members of the Warrant Task Force arrested Edmonds at an apartment in the 2000 block of Ramblewood Road in Northeast Baltimore; officers recovered a ghost gun and suspected narcotics there.

Edmonds was charged with first-degree murder and multiple weapons and narcotics violations, and the case moved into the courts. Barksdale’s older sister delivered a tearful victim impact statement at sentencing, describing the family’s loss.
