I’ve been reading about the unsolved case of Special Officer Samuel H. Boyer and can’t shake the thought of how isolating it must have been for officers patrolling those remote train yards back in the early 1900s. Imagine trying to do your job with little resources or backup, especially in such poorly lit areas. It’s such a testament to Boyer’s bravery that he approached those criminals despite the risks. The fact that his murder remains unsolved makes it even more frustrating. I hope his story continues to be shared so that current and future officers can remember the sacrifices made by those who came before them. My heart goes out to Boyer’s family and fellow officers who had to endure such a tragic loss.
