I've been digging into the disappearance of Joseph Jones and the *Bottom Basher*, and something keeps playing on my mind—Falls Island. That was the last known sighting of the vessel before it vanished. A passing fisherman reported seeing them near the island around 1:00 p.m., but after that, it's like they just fell off the edge of the earth. Falls Island and the surrounding waters are known for treacherous currents and rocky seabeds. Makes you wonder if those conditions played a bigger part in what happened than we realize. Also, wasn't that area notorious for hidden obstacles that aren't always on the charts? I've heard other fishermen talk about mysterious snags that can catch a dragger's gear by surprise. I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts on whether those currents or undocumented hazards might have contributed to the sinking? It just seems odd that, even with sonar, they never located the wreckage conclusively. Feels like there's more under the water here than meets the eye, both literally and figuratively.
