I keep thinking about the employees at R.E. Phelon who survived that horrific day. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been not only to witness such violence but also to lose friends and colleagues in such a sudden way. The impact of witnessing such trauma doesn’t just disappear after the scene is cleared. Survivors often carry long-lasting emotional scars, and the return to what's supposed to be a "normal" life becomes incredibly challenging. Many will likely experience PTSD, anxiety, and fear as they try to piece their lives back together. It makes you wonder - what support systems were in place for these individuals after the tragedy? Were they provided with the necessary counseling or resources to help process what they went through, or were they left to navigate their grief and trauma on their own? It’s so crucial for workplaces to not only ensure safety but also offer support when the unthinkable happens. I just hope these survivors received the compassion and help they deserved. It’s a harsh reminder that as a society, we must be ready to support those affected by such violence.
