It's always so hard to wrap your mind around why tragedies like Heather Shannon's happen in seemingly quiet neighborhoods. I keep thinking about Old Easley Bridge Road and how the morning of February 21st, 2014, must have shattered the peace there. It's absolutely gut-wrenching to consider what her family went through and continues to endure every day. The fact that Kenneth Campbell was found leaving the scene just boggles the mind. Was there any connection between him and Heather that prompted such an unnecessary act of violence? I can't help but wonder what the investigation uncovered about their relationship or any interactions they might've had prior to that awful day. And think about Codie, a mom and sister whose death left such a void. The legal process that followed, ending with a plea deal, must've been so taxing for those who loved her. It’s important for us to keep Heather's memory alive and offer any support we can to her family and the community, who are still struggling to make sense of it all. How do others feel about the outcome of the plea deal and sentence length? Does it really serve justice for Heather and her family?

I've been following Heather Shannon's case for a while now, and one thing that really stands out to me is the plea deal Kenneth Campbell accepted. He ended up with voluntary manslaughter and a 10-year sentence, but with time served, it just doesn’t feel like enough for such a senseless act. I can't imagine what Heather's family had to go through during the whole legal process, watching the charges get reduced. It's just so tough to think about the justice system sometimes. It makes me wonder if anything more could have been done, or if this was the best outcome possible given the circumstances. My heart truly goes out to her family—it's got to be incredibly difficult to find closure after something like this. Sending them strength and support as they continue to honor Heather’s memory.
