I've been following John's case closely, and something that's been on my mind is the timing of when the note was discovered. It’s perplexing that the note wasn’t found until Dec. 27, a full week after John left. I know these cabins can see little to no foot traffic, especially in the harsh winter months, but you’d think his family might have expected him back sooner and checked earlier. It makes me wonder if maybe there was some delay in their travel to the cabin or if they just assumed John would take longer because of the weather. Either way, I can’t help but think that the search could have started sooner if that note was found earlier. Thoughts?

Hi everyone, I’ve been following the search for John Koezuna, and something’s really been sticking with me. I can’t stop thinking about how tricky the weather can be in that area this time of year. For those who don’t know, Woolley Lagoon to Nome is quite the stretch, especially with the winter conditions we’ve been hearing about. Living in Alaska, I’ve seen how fast weather can change, and even someone familiar with the terrain could get caught off guard. Does anyone know if John had any experience with winter trekking in that specific area? I’ve read he was prepared for the elements but with the snow and wind we’ve had lately, I wonder if he might’ve sought temporary shelter somewhere, hoping the weather would clear. It sounds like there are various trails and paths he might have taken, so I’m hopeful the search efforts can focus on possible spots where he could have hunkered down. My heart goes out to those searching, and I really hope he’s just waiting out the weather. The area’s vastness makes it a monumental search task, but maybe by narrowing down known shelters or lookouts along the way, they might find some clue of where he went. Anyone with local knowledge, please chime in if you've got insights on this! Stay safe out there, folks!
