I still can't wrap my head around the fact that it took years to bring Leonard Mickens to justice for taking Najeer's life. As someone who's been following this case, I've always been struck by the resilience and patience of Najeer's family, especially his mom, Lawanda. Navigating the legal system can be such an overwhelming journey, and they’ve handled it with so much grace. What really gets to me is the danger this guy, Mickens, posed to the community for so long. A shell casing with his DNA was what tied him to Najeer’s murder—just one small piece of evidence that made such a huge difference. I can't imagine what those years of waiting must have felt like for Najeer's family while knowing the person responsible was still out there. Hats off to the investigators who didn’t give up. Cases like these remind us how vital it is for law enforcement to be thorough and persistent because sometimes a single piece of evidence can solve multiple cases. It’s terrifying to think about the other crimes he was connected to, but at least now he can’t hurt anyone else. My heart goes out to Najeer's family—we're all hoping this brings them a bit of peace.
