I’ve been following the case of Candis Steere, and the Silent Witness Ceremony dedicated to her and other victims really hit home for me. It's so touching that the community has come together to honor her memory in such a meaningful way. But it also makes me think about all the stories that go untold and victims who don't get the recognition they deserve. Domestic violence is such a pervasive issue, and it's devastating to think how many people suffer in silence. Candis was evidently cherished by those around her, and it's heartbreaking to comprehend the pain they’re enduring. Hopefully, these ceremonies not only honor the victims but also reinforce the importance of speaking out and supporting those in volatile situations. We need more awareness and resources for people who might be suffering behind closed doors, as it's clear from this tragedy that not enough people felt comfortable coming forward about what might have been happening.
