I've been thinking a lot about the tragic ambush that took Sgt. Carraway’s life and how such a senseless act has left a deep void in the Florence community. With everything else that's been discussed, I found myself really curious about the way the police handled the standoff. In high-risk situations like this, with officers already down, what kind of protocols are typically in place to try to bring the situation to a close safely? It's clear Sgt. Carraway was incredibly brave, running straight into the line of fire to save his fellow officers. It's devastating that his dedication cost him his life. Were there specific tactics used to finally get Hopkins to surrender, or was it just a matter of time? I can't imagine how tense it must have been for everyone involved. I hope his family finds peace, knowing how much of a hero he was to so many. ?
