I've been following Antuwan Marquise Shippy's case, and I can't shake off the sense of loss that his community feels. One thing that really stands out to me is how the shooting took place on Dogwood Circle, a seemingly quiet area where people probably felt safe. It's a stark reminder that violence can disrupt any sense of normalcy in our lives. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family must have felt, given that he was taken to the hospital with hopes of recovery, only for things to take such a tragic turn. The fact that Robert Anthony Owens had two guns with him makes me curious about what triggered this violence so close to home. It’s troubling how someone with a past record can still get hold of firearms so easily. I hope that through Antuwan's story, there's an increased awareness in the community about addressing these issues, so no more families have to go through such an ordeal. Sending thoughts of comfort to those who knew and loved him.
