Has anyone else been following the Antonio Bacote case? I’ve been thinking a lot about the community response and how important it is to support both the victim's family and the community's youth. Khalil Shyheim Williams was just 17 when the incident took place, and while there's obviously no excuse for violence, I can't help but wonder about the resources available (or lack thereof) for young people in Florence. Are there programs or interventions that could help prevent conflicts from escalating to such tragic ends? I feel for both families involved; this is a painful situation with lasting impacts on everyone. It would be really great to see more focus on outreach or support mechanisms that could make a difference in the future. Would love to hear others’ thoughts on this or similar organizations that have made a positive impact elsewhere.
