I recently came across the case of Deyarian Nikali Clement Abercrombie, and it got me thinking about the lack of support and protection for security staff. These individuals put themselves in harm's way to keep others safe, yet often seem to face incredible risks without adequate backup. It's truly unsettling how, on the night of June 14, 2020, Abercrombie was simply doing his job when tragedy struck.
As someone who served in the Marine Corps and then transitioned to a private security role, Abercrombie had a commendable commitment to protecting others. It’s devastating that this commitment ultimately cost him his life. The fact that Robinson was able to retrieve a weapon and continue his violent intentions after being removed from the bar highlights a serious issue in securing venues and protecting the personnel who safeguard them.
Is anyone aware of any changes in policies or increased support for security staff in the wake of this tragedy? While nothing can bring Abercrombie back, ensuring better protection for security workers might prevent another senseless loss. My thoughts go out to his family and friends, who have had to endure such a painful experience. ?️
I was thinking about the broader picture and how alcohol can sometimes turn evenings into nightmares. It seems like Deyarian might still be with us if things had gone differently that night. Working in security, he was doing a job that often goes underappreciated, ensuring others can have a safe night out. It's terrifying and saddening to see how quickly things escalated because of intoxication.
My heart goes out to Deyarian’s family and friends. It’s never easy to lose someone in such a senseless way. His dedication to both his country and community was profound, and losing a life so committed to protecting others is a huge blow. I hope his family finds some peace and strength knowing the community stands with them.
