Does anyone else find the school lockout during this incident incredibly unsettling? While I completely understand the need for protective measures, it must have been terrifying for the students and staff at Doby's Mill Elementary School. Having a lockout without knowing exactly what's happening outside can be extremely stressful. My heart goes out to all families involved. I can't begin to imagine how Vidal Bastien's family felt, knowing their loved one had been killed so close to where children were attending school. It's such a grim reminder of how violence can impact an entire community and reach even our most vulnerable spaces. I hope the community continues to support each other as they process this tragedy.
Does anyone else find it really eerie that the shooting happened so close to Doby’s Mill Elementary? I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been for the kids, teachers, and parents in the area. It's really unsettling to think about the kind of fear and confusion a situation like that can cause, especially at a school. I understand the lockout procedure was necessary, but the anxiety it must have provoked is just unimaginable. My heart goes out to Vidal's family and the whole community that had to endure such a traumatic event. If anybody local wants to discuss how the school handled the lockout or share how their day went because of it, I think it could be helpful to others who might be feeling uneasy about the safety measures in place. I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this tragedy must have had on the local community, especially knowing Doby’s Mill Elementary had to go on lockout immediately after the incident. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must have been for parents and students alike. A school is supposed to be a safe haven, a place for learning and growth, yet moments like these force us to face harsh realities. I hope that those who were there, students and staff, have access to the support and resources they need to make sense of such a senseless act. It’s just another reminder of the rippling effects violence has, not just on those directly involved, but everyone in its orbit.
