I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this tragedy had on the community in Summerville. It’s difficult to comprehend how a joyful occasion like a baby shower could turn into such a devastating event. Perry Jackson’s death was such a shock. He was only 26 and had so much to look forward to with his young kids, especially little Mylei who will now grow up without her father. It’s truly unfair. I can’t help but feel for his family and how they must be trying to cope with such an unexpected loss. The neighborhood will likely never be the same, knowing something so violent happened right in their backyards. It’s a reminder, tragically, of how quickly things can escalate. I hope the investigation continues to bring justice and that Perry’s family finds some peace knowing people are keeping them in their thoughts. His kids, especially, deserve to know how much he meant to those who loved him.
