I was reading more about the tragic shooting of Willie Smallwood Jr. and something that's been on my mind is the role of community spaces in all of this. It’s really sad to think that places like QT parking lots, where people should feel safe, are becoming spots for violence. Willie lost his life in a moment that escalated way too quickly, and it just makes you wonder how we can better protect and ensure these public areas are safe for everyone. I feel for both Willie's family and everyone else who's had their sense of safety shaken. It highlights how critical it is for community members to look out for one another and report any suspicious activity. We often don't think about the importance of preventative measures until something terrible happens. Does anyone know if there are any community meetings or initiatives being held in Greenville to address public safety concerns? It’d be great to hear if locals are coming together to discuss ways to prevent such incidents in the future.
