I've been following the tragic case of Randy Grant Perkins, Megan Lee Gale Dinkins, and Shay Nicole Dinkins, and I can't stop thinking about the brave actions of Megan's 8-year-old son. It's truly unimaginable what he must have gone through, witnessing such violence and then having the courage to escape and find help. This young boy managed to save himself, and perhaps his actions ensured that others were alerted quickly. I hope the community can rally around him and provide the support and counseling he undoubtedly needs in the aftermath of such trauma. Sending love to all the families involved as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time. This kind of violence leaves an indelible mark and reminds us all of the need to watch out for one another and address warning signs before tragedy strikes.
