Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share something that’s been on my mind about the murder of James Perkins back in ‘77. I’ve been reading up on some old articles, and it’s so difficult to imagine how terrifying it must have been for the people who knew him to learn how he was found.
What really gets me is the location of where James was discovered. I used to live not too far from Commerce Street, and it’s hard to wrap my head around the idea that someone could be so violently attacked in what’s otherwise a relatively quiet area. It makes you wonder if there was someone lurking in that alley, perhaps lying in wait or if it was an unlucky, spur-of-the-moment encounter.
The lack of witnesses is so frustrating. It's like, how could something so violent happen without anyone seeing a thing? I think about his family and friends and how they still don’t have answers after all this time. It’s encouraging to know that law enforcement hasn’t forgotten him and that they're still hopeful for a new lead. If anyone here happens to have ties to Wichita during the late ‘70s, or has heard stories over the years, even the smallest detail might eventually connect the dots for investigators.
Thinking of James’ loved ones today and hoping for that breakthrough.
Stay safe, everyone.
Does anyone else find it incredibly frustrating that James Perkins’ case has been cold for so long? I’ve been reading up on some of these unsolved cases from the '70s in Wichita, and it’s mind-blowing to think that we could be just one small tip away from finding out what really happened. I can't even imagine the pain his family must still feel after all this time, not having any closure or answers. The area where his body was found seemed quite isolated back then — I wonder if that alley had any significance or if it was just a crime of opportunity. Either way, someone must know something; maybe someone out there who was in that area in ‘77 might recall something that seemed insignificant at the time. Really hoping that with today’s technology, they can find new evidence and finally get justice for James and his loved ones.
