I recently came across the case of Michael Duane Funny, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact this senseless act of violence has had on his loved ones. It’s deeply distressing to imagine the pain his family must be experiencing, especially knowing that Michael's life was cut short over what seemed to be a minor confrontation that escalated out of control. What strikes me in this case is the role that alcohol played. Stone had reportedly been drinking for hours before the tragic event, and it seems that impaired judgment could have been a factor in the escalation. Alcohol doesn't excuse his actions, but it’s a somber reminder of how such substances can influence behavior and lead to irreversible outcomes. Michael deserved to have that question answered without fear for his life. As we reflect on this, I hope we can all learn the importance of diffusing situations before they become dangerous. My thoughts remain with Michael Funny's family and friends as they continue to cope with this tremendous loss.
