This case just breaks my soul. I keep thinking about the moments leading up to that tragic day and it’s hard to wrap my head around such a senseless loss. I read that Natasha's family and friends described her as such a vibrant, loving person who would do anything for her daughter. Knowing that both Natasha and Gucciyni were taken so suddenly is devastating. It's just so difficult to imagine what they must have gone through. I attended the candlelight vigil and was moved by the turnout and the love shown by the community. It was evident how much these two women were cherished. There was a part of the vigil where people shared memories and stories about Natasha and Gucciyni; it really brought light to their personalities and how much they meant to everyone around them. It makes me think about how we, as a society, need to improve how we address domestic violence. This incident, like too many others, shows that we need more awareness, more support systems, and stronger preventative measures. We owe it to Natasha, Gucciyni, and countless others to take a stand and work towards real change. My thoughts are with their loved ones during this incredibly painful time.
