Did anyone else find the role of the hotel porter in the tragic 1908 incident at the Hotel Estes intriguing? It's not often you hear about civilians being involved in shootouts with deranged individuals, but this quick-thinking hotel porter certainly did his part. The courage it must've taken to engage in that terrifying situation alongside Officer Basham, Marshal Ryan, and the other officer is remarkable. It's saddening to think that even with all their efforts, we still lost two brave officers. I hope the hotel porter was able to find peace after such a traumatic event. It really underscores how unpredictable and dangerous these situations can be, even in places where you’d least expect it. My thoughts continue to be with the families of Officer Basham and Marshal Ryan. ?
