Was doing some reading on this tragic event involving City Marshal James Ryan. Can't help but think about the family he left behind. To lose someone that way is unimaginable. It’s especially sad to know that Marshal Ryan had two sons who had to grow up without their dad. As a parent, I can't imagine having to explain to young kids why their father won't be coming home. His wife must have been incredibly strong during such a trying time. It's comforting, though, to see that the Warrensburg community has kept his memory alive, commemorating the bravery he showed until the very end. It’s a testament to the impact he had even beyond his family. If anyone has more info on how his family coped or what happened to them after, I'd be interested in learning more about their story.

I came across the story of City Marshal James Ryan, and it’s truly gut-wrenching to think about the devastating impact on his family—losing a husband and father like that. It’s unsettling to imagine the chaos that unfolded on those stairs at the Hotel Estes and how quickly everything changed. I can't help but wonder about the mental and emotional state of the assailant, influenced by alcohol and possibly cocaine. It seems like there was a storm of circumstances that led to this tragedy. My heart really goes out to Marshal Ryan’s family and the community that was left to cope with such an inexplicable loss. Do any records or personal accounts give insight into how his family managed to move forward after such an event? And how did the Warrensburg Police Department honor these officers in the years following their deaths? It's crucial to remember their bravery and keep their stories alive in the community.
