I've been thinking a lot about the son of Marshal Henry R. Rickey lately. It must have been absolutely devastating for him to witness such a tragic event. Not only did he lose his father, but he also had to carry the immense burden of trying to identify his father's killer in the dead of night, under dire circumstances. I can't imagine the weight of uncertainty he must have felt during the trial—wanting justice for his father but not having a clear answer to give. It really makes you think about how split-second decisions in such chaotic environments can have such long-lasting effects on people's lives. My heart goes out to him and his family, having to live with this unresolved chapter hanging over them. It's a reminder of how tough the path to justice can truly be, especially back then when the resources and technology we rely on today weren't available.
