I’ve been diving into the life and demise of Arkansas Tom Jones, and I was struck by the role of Detective Leonard H. "Len" Vandeventer in the turbulent events leading to Daugherty's death. It’s incredible to consider the sheer bravery and determination it must have taken for Vandeventer and his team to track down such a notorious figure. As dangerous as Daugherty was, I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness for the family members on both sides who had to endure the aftermath of their actions. Stories like these really make me think about the complexity of the lawmen and criminals of the Old West and the fine line some walked between right and wrong. Anyone else have thoughts on how Vandeventer’s role impacted the final chapters of this saga?
