Hey everyone, I've been looking into the tragic murder of Marie Montgomery and can't stop thinking about how this case highlights the vulnerability of older adults living alone. It's terrifying to consider that someone like Marie, who had likely seen so much life, could have her story end in such a horrific way because of a random act of violence. Living alone at her age must have been tough enough, and then having her life cruelly taken by Winford Stokes is just beyond anything. I'm curious if there were any community initiatives back then to help protect seniors or if any changes were made in her neighborhood after her murder to try and prevent something like this from happening again. It's just so upsetting to think of anyone, especially someone who already went through losing a spouse, having to face that kind of fear and violence in their own home.
