I've been following the Kirkwood City Hall tragedy, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. One aspect that's been on my mind is the difficult road that Mayor Mike Swoboda had after being shot. It's just devastating to think about the strength it must have taken for him and his family during those months following that terrible day. The fact that he showed signs of recovery at first has stayed with me. It's almost like a glimpse of hope was trying so hard to break through the darkness. I can't help but think about his loved ones and how they must have clung to any sign of improvement. And then to have cancer take him from them in the end just seems so unfair. This case truly highlights how precious and fragile life is. I hope the community continues to support each other and finds strength in remembering the positive impacts Mayor Swoboda had on Kirkwood during his lifetime. It's these moments where we need to come together and ensure such tragedies lead to meaningful change and healing.
