I've been following Curtis Crawford's case, and it just hit me how much courage it must have taken for his family to show up in court time and again throughout all the hearings. I can't even begin to imagine the heartbreak they must feel, sitting so close to the person who took Curtis's life. When you hear about these situations, you often don't think about the emotional toll it takes on those left behind, all throughout the legal proceedings.
Having Mitchell finally plead guilty is crucial, but it doesn't change the fact that Curtis is no longer here. It's hard to wrap your head around the fact that someone can alter so many lives with just a few reckless actions. I hope Curtis's family and friends find strength in each other and in the memories they shared with him. It’s so important for the community to remain supportive and united during these incredibly tough times. Sending so much love their way.
I can’t stop thinking about how terrifying it must have been for Curtis’s friends who were there at the barbershop that day. I mean, what started as a normal every day hanging out with friends ends in such a horrific way. It’s deeply upsetting to imagine the trauma and shock they must have experienced, seeing something so awful unfold right in front of them. I really hope they’re getting the support they need to cope with what happened. And for Curtis’s family, I can’t even begin to understand the depth of their sorrow. Losing someone so young and full of potential is unimaginably painful. It’s a stark reminder of the harsh realities in society today. We must continue to push for safer communities so tragedies like this are not part of the everyday narrative.
