I've been following the case of Terry Tobey's murder and am deeply moved by the stories shared from her Sunset Hills community. One aspect that is really sticking with me is how someone as kind and cautious as Terry could fall victim to such a heinous crime by someone she was trying to help. This makes it all the more devastating to think about how trust and kindness were exploited in such a horrific way. It honestly makes me wonder about the broader issue of how our communities can protect the most vulnerable among us. Knowing that Terry was generous and cautious, it feels so tragic that sometimes even the most careful among us can be placed into harm's way. Her neighbors' descriptions of her as a kind-hearted person trying to do good in her community reflect that. It just hits hard how the people who try the hardest to do good can sometimes end up in the worst situations. For anyone who knew Terry or was impacted by this senseless tragedy, my thoughts are with you. It's a harsh reminder of the realities in our world and why we need stricter laws to curb repeat offenders like Patton, ensuring our communities are safer for everyone.
