I’ve been following the case of Marquis Strickland, and it’s just devastating to think about how a young life was taken over what seems to be an unnecessary confrontation. One detail that really sticks with me is how Marquis didn’t even have a weapon on him during the shooting. This really turns the spotlight on the dangers of assumptions, especially when firearms are involved. I wonder if there are efforts in place in Saint Louis to promote awareness and training on conflict de-escalation, especially in communities where disputes can so quickly turn deadly. It’s crucial for people in tense situations to have alternatives to violence readily available. My thoughts are with Marquis' loved ones; I hope they find some peace and justice through this difficult journey.
