I’ve been reading about Lamont Jones’s case, and what stands out to me is the lack of witness cooperation. It’s so frustrating to see how fear and distrust can hinder justice from being served. I can’t imagine the pain his family must feel, knowing that there might be people out there with information that could help solve this but are too afraid to speak. I understand the fear of retaliation or mistrust towards authorities, but there has to be a way to protect those who come forward while encouraging more community engagement in solving these crimes. Has anyone seen similar cases where community outreach or other initiatives actually made a difference in getting witnesses to come forward? It’s so tragic that silence can perpetuate violence.
