I recently revisited Catherine Gleason-Rhodes' case, and I can't stop thinking about the impact on her children. It's beyond tragic that they were present during such a traumatic event and now face life without their mother. While they're with their grandmother, who's undoubtedly providing them with love and support, I wonder about the resources available to help these young kids process their grief and trauma.
It's beautiful to hear they commemorated the anniversary of her passing with a balloon release, but I hope the community continues to rally around them. They need all the support they can get, not just now, but as they grow and start to ask more questions about what happened. If anyone has info on local services or ways to provide support to the family, sharing that could be vital. Keeping them in my thoughts.

I am Cathrines step sister. Her children are amazing children whom love their mother dearly. We keep her memory alive and they celebrate her every holiday and birthday and any chance they can. To this day the family and community rally around them to help them through any challenge they face.

Thank you for sharing this, and for the love you pour into Catherine’s kids. It’s moving to hear how they keep their mom’s memory alive—on holidays and birthdays, but also in those everyday moments that say so much about who she was. The way your family and community continue to rally around them is a beautiful testament to Catherine’s life and to the strength of her children.

Please know that many of us are holding them—and all of you—in our thoughts. We see the care it takes to guide kids through grief while protecting their joy, and we’re grateful for the steady circle you’ve built. I’ll keep lifting Catherine’s name with kindness and keep cheering on her children as they grow, remember, and thrive. Sending love and respect to your whole family, today and always.
