I was reading through some documents on the case today and it struck me how young Cortez McCullough was at the time of the crime. It’s truly awful to think about how his life—and the lives of the families involved—changed in the blink of an eye. He was only 14, and while I'm not excusing his actions, it makes me really think about how impressionable kids are. What kind of environment leads someone so young to get involved in something like this? It’s such a sad situation all around. I can only imagine the ongoing pain for Charles Lagrone's loved ones. It's important to shine a light on these issues to hopefully prevent more tragedies like this in the future.

I've been following the Charles Lagrone case, and one thing that's really been on my mind is the involvement of Cortez McCullough, who was just 14 when this all went down. It's hard not to feel a sense of sadness for everyone involved, including Cortez. His life took such a dark turn at such a young age, and now he's serving 10 years for his part in such a tragic event. It makes me think about the influences on youth in these environments and how this cycle of violence can feel impossible to break. I can’t imagine what Charles' family is going through, but it’s also tough thinking about the impact on Cortez's family too. It's just a tragic situation all around, and I really hope there are interventions that can help prevent other young kids from going down a similar path. This whole situation is just a reminder of how violence reaches far beyond the immediate circle.
