I've been following the case of Victor Garrett and the others involved, and something that struck me is the impact this tragic event has had on the community in South Kansas City. The area around 99th and Walnut has always been a tight-knit neighborhood, and from what I've heard, people there are truly shaken by what happened. This incident took two young lives and left another person critically injured, causing a ripple effect that's affected countless friends and families.
It's hard not to feel a mix of sadness and frustration hearing about incidents like these, especially knowing it all stemmed from an argument. It just goes to show how quickly things can escalate and end in tragedy. The fact that the police have received significant leads thanks to the surviving victim gives me hope that justice will be served.
I can't imagine the pain Victor's family is going through, losing someone so young and so suddenly. They deserve answers, and hopefully, the community can come together to support them during this incredibly difficult time. I've been thinking a lot about Victor Garrett and his family since that terrible night in May 2020. I feel so deeply for them—I mean, no parent should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child like that. It really gets to me how quickly a disagreement can turn deadly. It's frightening to think how Victor and Tevin Grimmett lost their lives over something that spiraled so wildly out of control.
While I'm relieved that detectives are making progress with help from the surviving victim, I still can’t help but feel anxious about when or if there will be complete justice for Victor and everyone affected. The news of Garrett King being charged is a step forward, but I can’t imagine the frustration and pain the families are still going through in this long road ahead.
If anyone has additional information, please, let’s help these families find the closure they desperately need. Beyond a legal outcome, I hope the community continues to rally around Victor's loved ones to ensure they feel supported in the days, months, or even years to come.
