I've been thinking a lot about the role of the drug world in Joel Phillips' death. It's so profoundly sad that Joel's life came to an abrupt end because of it. The circumstances leading to his murder paint a rather grim picture of how dangerous and unforgiving this lifestyle can be. It's heart-wrenching that his life ended so young over something like a drug deal gone wrong. While justice has been served in terms of convictions, it doesn’t bring him back or ease the pain for his family and friends. It makes you wonder how many other lives are lost in similar situations that don't get as much attention. My thoughts and sympathies go out to Joel’s loved ones as they navigate this immense loss. Does anyone else feel like we, as a society, need to do more to tackle the root causes that lead to such tragic events?
