Has anyone else been following the trial of Caran Hatchet? During one of the hearings, it was mentioned that there had been previous threats between Daniel and Caran. I can't help but wonder if there were any missed opportunities for intervention before things escalated to this point. It's so distressing to think of Daniel's family having to relive those moments in court, hearing about any animosity that might have existed. Losing someone is devastating enough, but knowing that there might have been warning signs adds another layer of pain. I'm hoping for some clear answers as the trial progresses. Thoughts or insights on whether past conflicts should have tied into the self-defense claim?

I was reading through some court documents today and something that caught my attention was the forensic evidence presented in Daniel Smith's case. It seems like a lot of emphasis was placed on the trajectory of the bullets. Has anyone else looked into this? I'm wondering how much impact this kind of evidence usually has in trials like these. It must have been incredibly difficult for Daniel’s loved ones to hear those details during the proceedings. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain his family is going through, trying to comprehend what happened that night. Thoughts and insights are welcome—especially from anyone who has experience with forensic testimony.

Has anyone else noticed the peculiar timing surrounding Caran Hatchet turning himself in? It happened on November 30, 2019, which is oddly specific, considering the incident involving Daniel Smith occurred in December 2020. This has really got me thinking about whether there were other ongoing issues between them prior to the tragic event, maybe something that prompted Hatchet to come forward earlier? These cases are always so complex, and the families involved go through so much. My heart goes out to Daniel’s family; it must be incredibly difficult for them to grapple with not just the loss, but the details slowly emerging that might fill the gaps in their understanding of what happened. Whatever led to that fateful morning, I hope more light is shed during the proceedings, bringing peace to those who need it most. Anyone else following this closely or have insights on similar past cases?
