I'm deeply saddened by what happened to little Mayson and Kaiden Peak. This has been such a heavy story for everyone who followed it. One thing that sticks out to me is how crucial it is for us to pay attention to the signs of mental health struggles, especially in those who have made concerning statements in the past. It's heart-wrenching to think that maybe, just maybe, this tragedy could have been prevented if Darrell had felt supported enough to get the help he needed. Mental health resources need to be accessible and widely discussed in communities to hopefully prevent another family from experiencing such a devastating loss. My thoughts are with the Peak family and the entire Pleasant Hope community during this difficult time.
