Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of Roberto "Berto" Angel Lauer, and something that's been really heartbreaking is thinking about the impact on his classmates at Battle High School. Berto was just about to finish high school—a time that's supposed to be full of hope and looking forward to the future. I can't even begin to imagine what his friends and classmates must be feeling right now, having to go back to school with one empty seat where he used to be. It's evident that he brought a lot of joy to people with his smile and upbeat nature, and the ripple effect of his loss must be monumental. I also think it's important to highlight how the school district stepped up to provide counseling and support for everyone affected. These resources are crucial, especially in helping young people process something as traumatic as this. If any of Berto’s friends or classmates happen to read this, I just want to extend my deepest sympathy. Please take advantage of the support being offered, and lean on each other.
