Anesha Katherine Murnane, a 38-year-old vulnerable woman, vanished in Homer, Alaska, on October 17, 2019. She was last seen leaving her assisted living residence on Main Street for a medical appointment at the Seldovia Village Tribe Health Center. Murnane, who also went by the nickname "Duffy," successfully made it to her appointment. The last confirmed sighting of her was later that afternoon when she was captured on surveillance footage leaving a Carrs supermarket. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue jacket, a light-colored shirt, and blue jeans. The search for Anesha Murnane began after she failed to return to her assisted living facility. Her disappearance was considered out of character, and concerns for her well-being grew quickly due to her status as a vulnerable adult. The Homer Police Department, along with the Alaska State Troopers, initiated search efforts. These efforts involved extensive ground searches by law enforcement, professional search and rescue teams, and community volunteers who scoured the areas around Homer. Despite these comprehensive searches, which included the use of canine units and aircraft, no trace of Murnane was found, and the active search was eventually scaled back, transitioning into an ongoing investigation. Over the years, the investigation into Anesha Murnane's disappearance has remained open, with law enforcement continuing to follow up on any leads that emerge. Her family has been proactive in keeping her case in the public eye, hoping that someone might come forward with information that could lead to her whereabouts. The circumstances surrounding her vanishing remain a mystery. After leaving the grocery store, her trail seemingly went cold, with no further credible sightings or communication. The case is a painful example of how a person can disappear without a trace, leaving a community and a family with unanswered questions and an enduring sense of loss. The overview of the case reflects a sudden disappearance with no clear indications of what might have happened after she was last seen on surveillance footage.
