On January 29, 1989, a then 27-year-old Kevin Lee Melnick was aboard the fishing vessel 'Vestfjord' when it tragically sank. The vessel, homeported in Dillingham, Alaska, found itself in perilous conditions. Aboard with five other crew members, Kevin Melnick was part of an experienced team navigating the treacherous Alaskan waters. Kevin Melnick, along with Richard "Dick" Legary, Richard "Ricky" Kristovich, and Daniel McDonald, remain missing. The remaining crew members lost were Doug Harding and Bill Hodgins.
