On March 3, 1989, 33-year-old Jack Gilbert White II was the skipper of the Ocean Hope II, a 108-foot steel longline halibut fishing vessel, and was lost at sea along with his three crew members. The crew consisted of Dennis Frye, 26, Dan Tullar, 26, both from Kodiak, and Michael "Mickey" Wheeler, 27, of Anacortes.
