Daniel Lester Jones, 25, and his friend Daniel John Novcaski, 27, went missing after a boating accident near St. Lazaria Island, close to Sitka, Alaska, on September 9, 1989. The two men were reported missing by one of their wives when they failed to return from a fishing trip as expected. The incident involved a 16-foot halibut skiff that capsized. Search and rescue efforts by the U.S. Coast Guard were reportedly hindered by foggy conditions.
