In the spring of 2015, the life of Darrell James Fortune, a 57-year-old man from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. Known affectionately by many as 'Darrell the Plumber,' Mr. Fortune was found deceased in his residence on Hollywood Street on Sunday, April 12, 2015. An investigation determined that he had been the victim of a fatal shooting.
When law enforcement arrived at his home, they found no indications of a forced entry or any signs of a struggle having taken place.

Darrell James Fortune, Sr. was a father to a son, Darrell James Fortune, Jr., and a daughter, Ebony Evelyn Black. He was also a grandfather. His passing was mourned by his surviving siblings and a host of other relatives and friends who remembered him. Funeral services were held, and he was laid to rest at Port Hudson National Cemetery.
