On the morning of August 15, 1998, 73-year-old Howard Kenneth Woolwine was last seen at the Hairston Home for Adults, a residential care facility in Martinsville, Virginia. At approximately 6:15 a.m., he walked out of the rear door of the facility and vanished. At the time of his disappearance, Woolwine was described as a white male with gray hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'8' and weighing around 180 to 200 pounds.
