Christopher Robert Flammang was 29 years old when he was last seen in Pendleton, Oregon, on March 6, 2016. Known to his friends and family as Chris, he had previously resided in several states, including California, Texas, Nevada, and Washington. At the time he went missing, he was leading a transient lifestyle and was known to frequent homeless shelters and rural locations. The details surrounding his disappearance are limited, creating a long and difficult period of unknown for his loved ones. At the time of his disappearance, Chris was wearing a red hooded coat with a dark lining, layered shirts, and blue jeans. His footwear consisted of white socks and tennis shoes. He carried two backpacks with him, one black and one blue, which held personal items such as clothing, a shaving kit, and a personal journal. These belongings provide a small window into his life and preparations at the time he vanished. The investigation into his disappearance was handled by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office in Washington. For years, his case remained unresolved. In October 2024, human skeletal remains were discovered by a landowner on private property outside of La Grande, Oregon. Due to the condition of the remains, they were not immediately identifiable and were sent for examination. In December 2025, through dental records, the remains were positively identified as Christopher Flammang. His family was notified, bringing a somber conclusion to their search. While the cause of death has not been determined, the discovery provided a painful answer after years of uncertainty. The case is a heartbreaking account of a young man who disappeared and the eventual discovery that confirmed his passing, highlighting the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies to bring the case to a close.
