In the autumn of 2019, the life of 30-year-old Bradley Chace Stracener took a turn that left his family and community with lingering questions and a profound sense of loss. On October 30, Stracener was last seen in Leesville, Louisiana. He departed with the intention of returning a car to his girlfriend, who lived about 10 to 12 miles away, but he never reached his destination. The following morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m. on October 31, the silver 2014 Ford Focus he had been driving was discovered abandoned. The vehicle was found near a steel gate on Bundick's Road in the Sandy Hill area, roughly two miles from where he was last seen. The car was unlocked, and the keys were resting on the passenger seat, with no apparent signs of a struggle or foul play at the scene. Bradley, a member of the Four Winds Tribe Louisiana Cherokee Confederacy, was described as being 5'10" and weighing around 185 pounds at the time he went missing. He had reddish-brown hair and brown eyes and might have had a mustache, goatee, or a full beard. The investigation into his disappearance was launched, with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office taking the lead. Detectives have since interviewed a significant number of people and executed several search warrants in their efforts to uncover what happened. Extensive foot searches, aided by specially trained K-9 units from across the country, were conducted in the wooded area where the car was found, but these searches yielded no clues to his whereabouts. The case has been complicated by details about Bradley's life at the time. Authorities noted that he had a history of spending extended periods living in the woods. At the time of his disappearance, he had an active probation and parole warrant for his arrest, and it was not uncommon for him to go into hiding when facing legal issues. A detective mentioned that Stracener had stolen and consumed some of his mother's prescription medication and traded some for methamphetamine on the day he vanished. His girlfriend had also reportedly threatened to report the car he was driving as stolen, which may have given him another reason to disappear. Despite these circumstances, his family has maintained that it was uncharacteristic of him to be out of contact for so long. Over the years, his mother, Toni James, was a vocal advocate for her son, often taking to social media to express her frustrations with the investigation before she was found deceased in early 2026. The mother of Stracener's son also launched a TikTok campaign to bring renewed attention to the case. As of today, the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office has no evidence to suggest foul play was involved in his disappearance. The investigation remains open, but with no significant leads in years, it is considered a stale case, leaving the question of what happened to Bradley Stracener unanswered.
