Melissa Fu, a 12-year-old girl, was last seen on November 22, 2019, in Irvine, California, alongside her mother, Amber Aiaz. The pair mysteriously disappeared under suspicious circumstances from their apartment near Michelson Drive and University Drive. On the day of their disappearance, Amber's husband, Cheng Zhang, reported that two individuals—believed to be of Chinese descent—knocked on the door. When Zhang answered, he was rendered unconscious by an unknown substance. Upon regaining consciousness, Amber and Melissa were missing, with bloodstains discovered in the apartment, though both of their passports and belongings remained behind.
Authorities believe that their abduction may have been financially motivated, possibly tied to Amber's claims of wealth, which were later revealed to be false. The two suspects seen at the scene—described as a male and female—were possibly driving a black Cadillac. Despite extensive investigations, including a reward offered by the FBI, neither Amber nor Melissa has been located, and their case remains unsolved.
The Irvine Police Department, in cooperation with the FBI, continues to seek information from the public to help resolve this case.
