Katherine Gelaro, a 46-year-old woman, was last seen on December 19, 2019, in Callahan, Florida. She went missing under mysterious circumstances, and her family reported her disappearance to authorities on Christmas Day, noting it was unusual for her to miss the holiday, especially without contacting her two sons. Her last known location was her boyfriend Jerry Salis's home in Jacksonville, Florida, with whom she had an on-and-off relationship.
Gelaro split her time between his residence and her own home in Callahan.
Around the time of her disappearance, her boyfriend was arrested on unrelated charges of drug possession, theft, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, just one day before Gelaro was reported missing. Although Salis has a significant criminal history, police have not named him as a suspect in Gelaro’s case. However, his arrest, coinciding with Gelaro's disappearance, raised suspicions. He has since been sentenced to prison for his unrelated offenses.
Several days after Gelaro's last known sighting, her car—a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra—was found abandoned with the keys inside, though the location where it was recovered has not been disclosed by authorities. Despite extensive searches by her family and the local community, including searches of wooded areas near where her boyfriend was arrested, no substantial leads have emerged regarding her whereabouts. As of today, her case remains unsolved, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
