Hanna Wanerskog, a 20-year-old from Sweden, disappeared on February 7, 2020, while in Hawaii for a three-month internship with Surfing the Nations, a humanitarian nonprofit organization. She was last seen at Waimea Bay Beach Park on Oahu's North Shore. While near the shoreline, a powerful wave swept her and two friends out to sea. Her friends managed to swim back to shore, but Hanna did not. She was last seen treading water around 6:35 p.m. despite attempts to help her.
