Bettie Smith, a 72-year-old woman from Longbranch, Texas, has been missing since June 8, 2020. On that day, Bettie was last seen by her son as she went out to sit on the porch of their home in the 900 block of County Road 158. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, but when her son went to check on her later that evening, she had disappeared. Bettie, who was in the advanced stages of dementia, is believed to have wandered off from the property.
Despite an extensive search conducted shortly after her disappearance, no trace of her has been found.
Bettie's family had previously experienced her wandering away from home, but she had always been found nearby. Her disappearance prompted an urgent search by local authorities, including the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, and a Silver Alert was issued to notify the public. Sadly, the search efforts have not yielded any clues, and her case remains unsolved. Bettie was last seen wearing a pastel-colored shirt, white jeans, black-and-white sneakers, and a short wig, making her recognizable to anyone who might have encountered her.
