Sam Dubal, a 33-year-old University of Washington anthropology professor, went missing on October 9, 2020, while hiking solo in Mount Rainier National Park. He set out to hike the Mother Mountain Loop from the Mowich Lake Trailhead and was expected to return the following day. When he did not come back, a search was initiated on October 12.
