Laurent Abecassis, a 45-year-old experienced pilot, went missing on December 27, 1994, after renting a single-engine Piper Warrior airplane from Boca Aviation in Boca Raton, Florida. He told his wife he had to handle some quick business at the airport but didn't mention that he needed to take a flight to maintain his commercial flying license.
